A food poisoning expert reveals the six foods he never eats

He’s the managing partner of Marler Clark, dubbed ‘The Food Safety Law Firm’, and has won more than $600 million in compensation claims for his clients since 1998.

He’s filed lawsuits against McDonald’s, KFC, Chipotle, Taco Bell and Wendy’s for victims of E. coli, salmonella, and other foodborne illnesses.

“I’ve taken tens of thousands of cases,” he told Lucky Peach. “Some outbreaks might have a hundred people, or some 20. I can say I’ve been involved in every major foodborne-illness outbreak that’s occurred in the US since 1993.”

Australians are thinking more carefully about what we eat in the wake of the salmonella outbreak at a bakery in Sydney’s south, where 40 people were sent to hospital.

So when Bill Marler tells us not to eat a certain food, we listen.

He spoke to the Food Poisoning Journal about which foods he won’t touch.
