This man didn’t know he was living in a meth-ridden house
Jonathan Elam had no idea the house he was renting with his three children was riddled with methamphetamines.
The two-bedroom brick veneer house in Warrandyte seemed like a great find in a tight property market. But in April, less than a month after he moved in, he began hearing stories from neighbours about a previous tenant being a “bad egg”.
Then he started getting headaches.
Mr Elam wanted to get his new home tested for drugs but his real estate agent, Lauders Watsonia, said he’d have to pay the cost up front and they’d reimburse him.
